From January 29th, 1920, to March 23rd, 1933, the Volstead Act, famously known as the 18th Amendment, enforced the prohibition of alcoholic beverages across the 48 United States. During this era, citizens were legally barred from consuming alcoholic drinks. However, in neighboring countries like Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, the production and consumption of alcoholic beverages were perfectly legal and thriving. It was during this time that John “Jack” Gilbert, seizing an opportunity with his characteristic passion and determination, entered the scene.
